2023 3rd International Conference on Educational Technology (ICET 2023) 



The 3rd International Conference on Educational Technology (ICET 2023), hosted by Northwestern Polytechnical University and organized by the School of Foreign Languages at Northwestern Polytechnical University, was held at the International Conference Center of Northwestern Polytechnical University on September 17th and 18th. The conference featured the participation of more than 60 experts and scholars from over 23 countries and regions, including Professor Jiyou Jia, Director of the Department of Educational Technology at Peking University; Professor Hiroshi Washizaki, the First Vice-Chair of IEEE Computer Society, Waseda University, Japan; Professor Maiga Zhang from the School of Computer and Information Systems at Carleton University, Canada, and Professor Curt Bonk from the School of Education at Indiana University (IU), USA.

The opening ceremony was attended by Yang Xiao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Northwestern Polytechnical University; Jie Kong, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages; and Gaozu Wang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Yee Zhang, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages and the Chairperson of the conference.


9月17日至18日,由西北工业大学主办、西北工业大学外国语学院承办的第三届教育技术国际会议(ICET 2023)在西北工业大学国际会议中心召开。本次会议邀请了北京大学教育研究院教育技术系主任贾积有教授、IEEE计算机协会第一副主席日本早稻田大学鷲崎弘宜教授、加拿大阿萨巴斯卡大学计算机与信息系统学院张迈加教授、 美国印第安纳大学Curt Bonk教授以及来自23个国家和地区的60余位专家学者参加。西北工业大学党委副书记杨晓、外国语学院院长孔杰、外国语学院党委书记王高祖出席大会,大会开幕式由本次大会主席、外国语学院副院长张奕教授主持。



Xiao YANG, on behalf of the university, delivered a speech welcoming domestic and international experts and scholars who attended the conference. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the leaders, experts, and friends from home and abroad who have been supporting the university's development over the years. He emphasized that Northwestern Polytechnical University places a strong emphasis on academic collaboration and international exchanges, actively promotes talent development and scientific research, and strives to contribute to social progress and national development.

This conference is dedicated to exploring the cutting-edge research in the field of educational technology and discussing interdisciplinary research and innovative initiatives. It provides a platform for global experts and scholars to exchange ideas and collaborate. Yang Xiao extended a sincere invitation to talents from around the world to join the university and pledged to strengthen cooperation with domestic and foreign universities and academic institutions. This collaboration aims to contribute to the high-quality development of the university's foreign language and literature disciplines and the cultivation of outstanding foreign language professionals.





Jie Kong delivered a welcome address, extending a warm welcome and gratitude to the domestic and international experts and scholars in attendance. He emphasized that the International Conference on Educational Technology aims to provide a platform for interdisciplinary research and collaboration in the field of foreign language and literature disciplines, especially in the context of new liberal arts construction. The conference intends to explore cutting-edge trends, facilitate the exchange of ideas, and promote the development of foreign language studies.

Kong expressed his hope that scholars from around the world attending the conference would be inspired to generate innovative ideas, share knowledge, foster deep cooperation, and contribute to the enhancement of teaching and research standards. He envisioned the creation of a diverse and inclusive international academic community that would accelerate the rapid development of fields such as foreign languages and educational technology.







The conference comprised four keynote presentations, eight invited talks, seven panel discussions, two online sessions, and one poster exhibition. The keynote speakers shared their research findings and academic perspectives in the field of educational technology and related areas.

Professor Jiyou Jia, Director of the Department of Educational Technology at Peking University, focused on the application and effectiveness of artificial intelligence in mathematics education. He introduced the MIATS V2.0 intelligent mathematics assessment and tutoring system, providing valuable insights into the use of intelligent assessment and tutoring systems to assist in implementing student assessment reforms, reducing student burdens, and enhancing educational efficiency at a macro level.


Professor Hiroshi Washizaki, the First Vice-Chair of IEEE Computer Society at Waseda University in Japan, explored how incorporating gamification concepts and engaging environments can enrich the learning experience and improve learners' programming and computational thinking skills.

Professor Maiga Zhang from the School of Computer and Information Systems at Carleton University in Canada introduced the MEGA World, a virtual world platform designed for teacher education. This platform inspires students to use their acquired knowledge and skills to explore virtual worlds driven by their interests, completing learning and assessment tasks.

Professor Curt Bonk from the School of Education at Indiana University (IU) discussed the advent of artificial intelligence and technology-based learning, highlighting that education has entered an era characterized by openness, adaptability, autonomy, informality, and non-traditional methods. He encouraged conference attendees to innovate their thinking and make intelligent learning a true reality in this new era.


此次大会由4个主旨报告、8个受邀报告、7场分论坛、2场在线会议和1场海报展示组成。主旨报告专家分别分享了其在教育技术及相关领域的研究成果和学术观点。北京大学教育研究院教育技术系主任贾积有教授围绕人工智能在数学教育中的应用及效果,介绍智能数学评估辅导系统MIATS V2.0,为利用智能评估和辅导系统帮助实施学生评估改革、减轻学生负担、提高教育效率等宏观政策提供了宝贵的参考。IEEE 计算机协会第一副主席日本早稻田大学鷲崎弘宜教授探讨了如何通过采用游戏化的概念和富有吸引力的环境丰富学习体验,从而提高学习者的编程和计算思维技能。加拿大阿萨巴斯卡大学计算机与信息系统学院张迈加教授介绍了服务于教师教育的课程虚拟世界平台MEGA World,激发学生利用所学知识和技能在兴趣驱动下探索虚拟世界,从而完成学习和评估任务。印第安纳大学(IU)教育学院Curt Bonk教授提出随着人工智能和技术学习的到来,教育已进入充满开放性、适应性、自主性以及非正式、非传统的时代,倡议与会者创新思想,将智能学习成为真正的现实。


The keynote and invited presentations received positive feedback from the participating scholars, and the conference venue witnessed lively discussions. The conference then proceeded to panel discussions and poster exhibitions.
Over 60 experts, scholars, and outstanding graduate students from more than 23 countries and regions, including China, Germany, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Finland, Singapore, Malaysia, and India, engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on various forum topics. These topics encompassed areas such as artificial intelligence and educational robotics, virtual reality in education, virtual learning environments and mobile learning, blended learning, hybrid teaching, and smart classrooms, educational information platforms, and technology-supported learning development, educational informatics, and online teaching, educational data mining and learning analytics, STEM education and innovative teaching methods, educational informatics, and online learning, as well as innovative teaching methods and instructional assessment.
